High Point is the steamy story of Max Seger, former US Navy officer and spy, and Tina Squillante, his hot-blooded, soon-to-be-ex-wife. 

After a tumultuous year of marriage, the two of them are poised to sign divorce papers - but then shadowy figures from Max's past come bursting onto the scene, all guns blazing.

What inspired High Point?

I first published High Point under my penname Simone Scarlet, the name under which I've written and published 31 full-length novels, selling more than 71,000 copies.

It was the tenth novel in my Knuckleheads Motorcycle Club series and distinct in being the second not to feature any actual motorcycles!

It was inspired by my wife and I going through a very difficult period in our marriage, and I felt called to the challenge of writing a love story in which the hero and heroine start the book absolutely hating each other - in the case of Max and Tina, actually getting a divorce in the first chapter!

But over the course of the wild adventure High Point sends them on, Max and Tina rediscover what made them fall in love with each other in the first place—and they're forced to trust each other again to save Tina's daughter from her ruthless kidnappers.

I was so proud of this book when I finished writing it that I asked some of my male friends to read it, and they really loved it—praising the non-stop action, the heartfelt emotion, and of course the really, really cool boat at the center of the adventure!

That's why I've republished an edition of this book targeted towards male readers—with a cover inspired by classic Clive Cussler books.

It's the same novel, telling the same story—but now you can enjoy reading it on the bus or train without a shirtless, tattooed guy on the cover!

The real-life High Point

The USS High Point was actually a real ship! 

Built by Boeing and commissioned by the US Navy in 1963, this experimental hydrofoil was once the fastest ship in the fleet - powered by two General Electric jet turbines and capable of a sustained speed of 48kts.

Decommissioned in 1975, I learned of the High Point when I found her on sale in Puget Sound for just $40,000.

She was the perfect fictional vessel for my heroes - and at one point, I secretly hoped this book would make enough money to buy and restore the High Point!

Sadly, another collector beat me to it - and after five years of failed restoration, the real-life High Point was scrapped in 2023. I was gutted!

At least in my fictional universe, the High Point lives on - and if you enjoy this book, you might be excited to know she's destined for another thrilling adventure shortly!

I've wanted to be a writer since I was a little boy. I wrote my first "novel" on my mother's electric typewriter, and completed my first book at just 14 years old, thanks to some wonderfully indulgent teachers at my school letting me use the school computer.

For nearly twenty years, I struggled to get published, but I never stopped writing. 

To pay the bills I've worked as a tour guide, a journalist, a bartender, a teacher, and an advertising executive—a mismatched career that has taken me from the UK to New York, with stops in Paris, Spain, and India along the way.

In 2013, I started self-publishing my writing on Amazon, and made hundreds of dollars in my first month. I realized all the rejection slips publishers had sent me were wrong. I did have what it takes to be a successful writer!

Since then, I've written and self-published 31 full-length books. I've sold 71,000+ copies and reached 600,000+ readers on Kindle Unlimited and beyond. 

I've also worked hard to help other writers achieve success too—with a weekly column and podcast targeted towards helping other aspiring authors follow in my footsteps.

I'm immensely grateful to have achieved all I have in my writing career, but I'm not stopping now. Telling stories is my life's purpose—and I'm so, so grateful for people like you who are willing to support what I do.
